The past few months has seen plenty of action in the EA FC program thanks to combined efforts of The Toyota Gaming Engine [TTGE], African Cyber Gaming League [ACGL] and NoFocus Gaming.

The preceding Cape Town and Gauteng challenges saw all roads lead to the AGC event at GrandWest in July, bringing together some of the best young players in Cape Town and rising stars from Gauteng.

AGC 2025 SCHOOLS

The AGC 2025 event brings together schools, universities and open competitors across a variety of titles.

For the 2025 edition, EA FC 25 featured three tournament categories, with Thursday set aside for schools in the Western Cape who formed part of the program. The day saw around 20 players from five Western Cape schools compete for the crown.

Before the action kicked off, the players and their supporters were treated to a talk by one of South Africa’s top EA FC players, Zaid April from Goliath Gaming.  After an intense day of play, the top three players represented three different schools, suggesting a wide pool of talented players in the region.

The top three players from the schools division:

  • 1st Place: Riclin | Apex Eerste River

  • 2nd Place: Qayooom | Christel House

  • 3rd Place: Giovanni | Bosmansdam Primary

AGC 2025 OPEN

The AGC 2025 R20,000 EA FC 25 open series saw several of the country’s top players competing for the bragging rights, lion’s share of the cash and a spot at the upcoming MTN SHIFT National finals at Canal Walk.

64 players, including two representatives from the Gauteng leg of the program kicked off their challenge on Saturday of the event in a gruelling group phase. Sunday brought the top 32 back for the playoffs.

Two players from Soweto-based NoFocus Gaming were brought to Cape Town to compete, and stayed the course into the playoffs with London proving again to be a player to watch out for in the future.

While the Gauteng representatives did not manage to crack the top three, it certainly was not for a lack of trying as the top slots at the event were grabbed by some of the top players in South Africa:

  • 1st Place: Aasim Lamara (R10,000)

  • 2nd Place: Ridhaa April (R6,000)

  • 3rd Place: Zaid April (R4,000)

UPCOMING EVENTS

The program will be taking a short break for now, but is likely to return soon. Keep your eye on the Toyota Gaming Engine and ACGL social media for the next tournament around the country.

Schools in Cape Town with limited access to equipment can contact schools@acgl.gg if they are keen to compete in the program. The ACGL team will make arrangements to host at the ACGL Bunker or come to your school.

The collaboration program aims to bring gaming and tournament opportunities to players, schools and communities with limited access to such opportunities.
