Johannesburg, South Africa – 19 January 2026 – The Toyota Gaming Engine (TTGE) launches the next edition of its flagship tournament, the GT Cup. Celebrated as one of TTGE’s hero competitive events, the GT Cup brings Toyota’s real-world vehicles to life in the virtual world of Gran Turismo 7, making it a favourite among both motorsport fans and gamers.

This year, TTGE is elevating the experience with a bold new campaign titled TTGE Vibe My Ride – a playful nod to the iconic 2000s reality show that transformed everyday cars into dream machines. Only this time, it’s not your real ride getting upgraded, but your entire gaming vibe.

A Campaign Fueled by Fun, Upgrades and Big Wins
TTGE Vibe My Ride taps into nostalgia while spotlighting the array of gamers and gaming enthusiasts we want to speak to. Starring as amusing alter egos of themselves – Host Khanyisa Unfiltered Xhosa, cosplayer Tara, comedian Dillan Oliphant and entertainer Carpo More give this campaign an extremely watchable edge.

The campaign introduces three different ways to win, making the GT Cup more rewarding and accessible than ever.

Whether you’re racing from a pro-level cockpit or a beloved, slightly squeaky skedonk, TTGE is making sure every kind of player gets the chance to boost their setup.

A Newly Tuned GT Cup Structure
To open the tournament to more players and more opportunities, TTGE has introduced an updated format for 2026. Instead of a single round, the GT Cup now features two full rounds, with four races each, doubling your chances to secure a spot in the finals.

  • Round 1: 2 February – 20 February 2026
  • Round 2: 16 February – 6 March 2026
  • Grand Finale: 11 March 2026

Three Ways to Get Your Ride Vibed

In true “Vibe My Ride” spirit, TTGE is offering a massive pool of prizes across three categories:

1. Social Media: Gaming hardware worth over R120 000
Players can win top-tier gaming gear simply by engaging with TTGE’s social channels during the campaign.

2. Submissions: A share of R15 000 in upgrades
To encourage max participation for all skill levels, racers can submit their lap times and stand a chance to earn a piece of R15 000 in gaming enhancements.

3. Skills: The tournament winners

  • 1st place: R10 000 cash
  • 2nd place: R7 500 cash
  • 3rd place: R2 500 cash

Toyota’s Commitment to Accessible and Enjoyable Gaming
As the driving force behind TTGE, Toyota South Africa Motors continues its mission to make gaming more accessible, inclusive and enjoyable for all kinds of gamers. By combining real Toyota vehicles in-game with dynamic, community-driven tournaments, TTGE creates a space where fans can race, grow and connect.

“The GT Cup is one of our most anticipated tournaments, and TTGE Vibe My Ride takes it to a whole new level,” says Tasneem Lorgat, General Manager Marketing and Communications at Toyota South Africa Motors. “We’re proud to build experiences that welcome more players, celebrate local talent and make gaming feel exciting and attainable for everyone.”

With upgraded prizes, a revamped competition format and an entertaining campaign that brings early-2000s nostalgia roaring back, TTGE’s 2026 GT Cup promises to be the biggest and most vibrant edition yet.
