The Toyota Gaming Engine, African Cyber Gaming League (ACGL), and Kasi Gamerz closed out 2022 with a bang! In early December, three events took place in Strand, Trenchtown, and Cape Town's Radisson RED.

Strand:

The Kasi Gamerz crew and 40 competitors faced off at Christmas Tinto School to determine the players representing their community at Trenchtown and Radisson RED. 14-year-old Reatile dominated the competition, scoring 20 goals in five rounds, including a 4-0 win in the finals.

Trenchtown:

32 Players battled for R1,000 cash and two spots at Radisson RED. Reatile again placed in the top eight but was defeated by Athi 2-1 in the third round. Athi remained undefeated and claimed the victory in the grand finals against Herschelle with a last-minute goal in extra time.

Radisson RED:

64 Players competed for a R5000 prize pool, including 16 from Strand and Kasi Gamerz, pro players, and casual competitors. Pros Masoom Fakie, Mubeen "Mobi" Gaffoor, and Luke Gabriel were among the top players. Reatile and Mobi were early casualties, with Athi, Dale, Luke, and Masoom making it to the final four. Dale defeated Athi and Luke defeated Dale in the loser's bracket, setting up the grand finals between Luke and Masoom. Masoom dominated with a 7-1 win over Luke, securing the R2,500 first prize.

Since September, the players from Strand have had more access to equipment, training, and competition, showing their skills against the best. In 2023, the community tournaments will return with at least two events scheduled. Stay tuned on ACGL's and TTGE's social media for updates on upcoming events.
