Activision Blizzard, best known for its popular games Call of Duty and Overwatch, has been acquired by Microsoft in a $68.7 billion deal. This deal makes Microsoft the world’s third-largest gaming company by revenue, behind Tencent and Sony. 

It also means that Activision’s library will boost Xbox’s gaming platform and Microsoft’s Game Pass portfolio with exclusive games and releases. Announcing the record-breaking deal, Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO of Microsoft, said this investment is part of their plan to usher in a new era of gaming that puts players and creators first.
